The TSGA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting steel guitar music, performance, and education in Texas, the United States, and the world!
Each year the TSGA produces the TEXAS STEEL GUITAR JAMBOREE. This 4-day show features performances by many of the top steel guitarists from Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee... all over the United States! The upcoming show will be held MARCH 13 - 16, 2008. Please use the link above for more information.

Roy D. "R.D." Davis

Roy D. "R.D." Davis of Dallas, Texas passed away the morning of April 19 at 5:30am at his home. R.D. has been dealing with lung cancer for several months now but now the pain and suffering has ended.
R.D. was a talented steel guitarist and was Vice President of the Texas Steel Guitar Association for many years. Additonally he was a member of East Texas Steel Guitar Association. There are many of you in the steel guitar family that will be saddened by his passing and there are those in the steel guitar community who didn't know R.D. We assure you that you missed an opportunity of great friendship if you didn't know him.
R.D. was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He was a custom cabinet craftsman and owned his own business for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Kay Davis, sister Naomi Morrow, Gainesville, TX, Avinelle Turner, Clovis, NM, step-daughter Paula Tillman and husband, Bill Tillman, grandchildren Sharhonda Baker, her husband David, Jessie Sullivan, Leslie Hummel, her husband Michael, Abbie Tillman, and great grandson Austin Hummel. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda Sullivan and son Marc Davis, sister Ruth Reath, brothers Thomas Thryer Davis, Burt Davis and Wayne Davis.
Our deepest condolences go to his dear wife Kay, and all his family and friends. He will be dearly missed at the welcoming podium at the entrance to the TSGA Concert Hall, where he held court for many years.
The services were held at Eastgate Funeral Home in Garland, Texas at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 21st. His eternal resting place is in Gainesville, Texas.Thanks to all of those who supplied information for the obituary of this fine gentleman.
Monthly Meeting Schedule 2006 and Future Activities
Monthly meetings are held the 2nd Sunday of each month at Norris Family Music, 500 N. Galloway, Mesquite TX.. All meetings begin at 1pm. Each month features performances by one or more exceptional players with an excellent backup band.
