The Texas Steel Guitar Association

UPCOMING SHOW INFORMATION

The 24th Annual TSGA JAMBOREE 2008

will be held at the

Sheraton Grand Hotel - DFW, Irving Texas

MARCH 13 - 16, 2008

This year in a new hotel... The SHERATON GRAND - DFW!

Well, the 2008 Jamboree is coming up and responses from all who've attended last year's show have been uniformly great! The show was a tremendous success, thanks to all the players who've stuck with the TSGA through the years, the vendors who've stuck with the TSGA through the years, and most importantly, the lovers of steel guitar who've faithfully supported us and our endeavors. We had record crowds, the vendors reported great sales, the music was totally awesome throughout all sessions of the show, and everyone was on the same page all weekend... let's HAVE A GREAT TIME!! The officers and staff of the Texas Steel Guitar Association send all of y'all our heartfelt thanks!

Excitement for the 2008 Jamboree is building, starting with a new relationship with a new home - The Sheraton Grand - DFW, conveniently located directly across Hwy 114 from the Westin. So the directions to the Jamboree site haven't changed. The Sheraton is a large and very nicely appointed hotel, and we think the Jamboree attendees next year will be more than happy with the accomodations.

Among the amenities at the hotel are TW0 restaurants, TWO bars (one currently "smoking allowed," but that could change), an indoor pool and exercise room, a business center with computers for guests, a gift shop for necessities, and a host of other things. The prices in the restaurants, including the breakfast and lunch buffets, are more than reasonable and the food... I've tried it... is excellent.

The room accomodations are quality, and so is the hospitality at the Sheraton. There are the *regular* rooms at an excellent per night rate, and also a more luxurious Club Level floor that naturally is a little more expensive.

The hotel's location is also convenient to all sorts of outside dining and shopping areas nearby along the freeway.

But for the Jamboree itself, the vendors' area is just as large as the previous hotel provided, as is the ballroom. There will be a large central vendor area, and booths lining the walls of the concert hall. There will be rooms available for builders to display and audition guitars without the distraction of the performances onstage. There's an outdoors smoking area close to the action of the Jamboree. The capacity of the concert hall itself is similar to current, maybe a little larger, though with slightly wider dimensions. Stage visibility for the audience should improve.

The TSGA is hopefully finding a welcome home at the Sheraton, thanks to the cooperation of the hotel's staff.

Here are the rates for the 2008 Jamboree, as quoted to me by Steve Boothe, sales manager of the hotel. Be sure to ask for TSGA Jamboree rates when making reservations.

King room, single occupancy                 $79 per night

King/double room double occupancy       89 per night

3rd and 4th occupants                            10 each additional

Club level room                                     109 per night

Club level double occupancy                   119 per night

We hope that the enthusiasm of both the TSGA and the Sheraton staff will make the 2008 Jamboree one of the best yet!

I've already made my reservation. Make yours now. Call 1-800-345-5251 for more information and reservations. We're looking forward to seeing everyone this coming March!
